Abstract

In the conditions of modernization of the primary level of education in Ukraine, active implementation of the concept of the New Ukrainian school one of the tasks of pedagogical education is the development of media education of future teachers of primary school. This contributes to the formation of their professional competence in general, improving the ability to work with different types and sources of information, critically analyze and interpret it, as well as to achieve a certain level of media literacy and media culture of future professionals. Media education, being a component of general secondary, higher and postgraduate education, provides the ability of the younger generation to use media and apply the latest information technologies in the process of educational, professional activities. We have defined the criteria, indicators and levels of development of media education for future teachers of primary school. We present the characteristics of the criteria, substantiated indicators and levels of development of media education of future professionals. The main results of the research: we have identified such criteria for the development of media education of future teachers of primary school as motivational, cognitive, operational and creative. We have identified three levels of development of media education: low - reproductive, medium - productive, high - creative. The defined criteria, indicators and levels of development of media education of future teachers of primary school are the basis for diagnosing the current state of media education in pedagogical universities of Ukraine. A promising area of ​​further research is the development of forms, methods and techniques for the development of media education for future teachers of primary school, their systematization.
