The relevance of the paper stems from the entry of the modern world into the era of the information society, which causes the spread of the tendency of science to exponential growth and renewal of knowledge, which is reflected in the phenomenon called "the half-life of the competences of a modern specialist". Under such conditions, the development of modern pedagogical theory and practice is characterized by the search for fundamental approaches to building an educational process that must meet the challenges of the modern world. In this connection, the analysis of the approaches to educational activity becomes extremely relevant, which will allow us to find out the trends in the development of modern education.
We revealed the logic of the development of approaches to studying activity in both theoretical and practical and chronological aspects, which reveals the movement from concretely specialized to abstract and general approaches. The approaches related to the informational-cognitive-affective processes of a person can be considered as a certain intermediate step from concrete-specialized to abstract-general approaches. Abstract-general approaches involve consideration of the highest human functions as a representative of Homo sapiens. In line with these approaches, scientists are trying to reveal the most effective factors in building the studying process.
The prospects for further scientific research in the context of the stated problem field of research are considered to be the construction of a comprehensive content model of the specified process using the considered concepts, theories, technologies, methods of educational activity.
