The article examines the role of personal experience as an important basis for the formation of national self-consciousness of students in war conditions. It is emphasised that deep self-awareness of one's own identity involves free choice of one's place in the ethno-national world based on reflection, and not under the influence of emotions. The main pedagogical principles for the formation of national self-consciousness of students are presented, in particular, taking into account the psychological foundations of the formation process, revealing tolerance and pluralism regarding different opinions and positions, awareness of the origins of negative phenomena and preventing their occurrence in educational activities. The leading philosophical theories related to human experience and its influence on the creation of relations with the World are considered. The possibility of combining various experiences differently in the ontological dimensions of time, space and society allows for achieving the integrity of human existence. Attention is drawn to the fact that experiencing new experiences and integration into new cultural horizons contribute to understanding, therefore a person must be open to new experiences, which facilitates the understanding of important information. It is shown that the war gave impetus to the emergence of new types of experiences with which a person needs to learn to work. The main principles of the work of teachers with the experience of applicants obtained in war conditions are: compliance with unobtrusiveness and voluntary participation in obtaining experience; promoting increased activity in the search for necessary knowledge; taking into account one's horizon of experience and the horizon of another; promoting the inclusive transformation of the experiences of others; creating conditions for obtaining new experiences; motivating to search for the reasons for differences of views and rethinking the situation. The results of the study of the work of teachers with the experience of applicants of vocational education institutions in war conditions are presented, and the features of work with the experience of internally displaced persons are highlighted. The experience of an educational institution in forming national self-awareness of students in wartime is highlighted.
