Abstract

The article deals with the problems of economic education of children and adults in Western Ukrainian lands in the pedagogical theory of the 19th - first half of the 20th centuries. The pedagogical ideas of domestic and foreign scientists are analyzed, their views on the problem of cooperative and economic education of children and adults, adaptation of methodological tools of philosophy, history, cultural studies, sociology, psychology and other sciences to study the idea of economic education education.  The validity of the study of the problem is confirmed by the complex application of interrelated research methods, including: historical, systemic and comparative; search and bibliographic; historical and pedagogical; classification and systematic study of documentation of cultural and educational societies. The theoretical generalization and comparison of the materials worked became the basis for formulating conclusions about the possibility of using the historical experience of economic education of children and adults in modern conditions. The scientific novelty of the research is that for the first time in the national pedagogical science, a holistic analysis of the development of economic education of children and adults in Western Ukraine, which until now has not been the subject of special study on methodological, theoretical and application levels.  The practical significance of the obtained results lies in the possibility of their use in the scientific and methodological support of the educational system of Ukraine, improving the quality of higher education in the market of educational services. The urgency of the problem of economic education of children and adults in Western Ukraine has been proved, which has been adequately reflected in pedagogical theory. The effective use of the accumulated experience will facilitate the versatile preparation of the individual for life, the development of a critical understanding of their own "I", the ability to adapt to the changing world. Prospects for further research need problems: development of economic education of children and adults in the context of multicultural educational space, theory of economic education of adults (andragogy).
