УДК 37.017:17 The formation of spirituality in students based on the values of Christian ethics

Abstract

The article presents the key principles of the formation of spirituality in students. Different approaches to definition of the concept of «spirituality» are analyzed and its metaphysical component is emphasized. It is underlined the importance of the spiritual vector of development of the Ukrainian nation. The article determines the values of Christian ethics as a component of spirituality and their influence on the development of moral personality. It is emphasized that it is the ethical component of spirituality should become the source of education and upbringing in educational institutions. The article assesses the current state of the process of introducing spiritual values in the educational process and presents the international and national regulatory and methodological documents for the organization and implementation of spiritual education. Some social and institutional challenges that influence the process of introducing spiritual values into education are emphasized. Particular attention is paid to the importance of the formation and development of the moral qualities of the teacher and the increase of his professional competence for the effective teaching of subjects of spiritual and moral orientation. Prospects for further research are further awareness of the role and place of the ethical component of Christian religion in the formation of spirituality of Ukrainian youth and the search for effective ways of forming an adequate professional attitude to the role of religious organizations in the process of spiritual and moral education of Ukrainians.
