Using the Oxford Debate Method While Teaching Humanities to Future Foreign Philologists

The article deals with the Oxford Debate as a kind of modern lecture – the dedication of students to the process of joint scientific work, involving them in scientific work. The Oxford Debate, which is an excellent training for public speaking, teaches the principles of speech construction, technique and the appropriate use of non-verbal communication. The Oxford Debate also teaches students a very important activity – preparation for classes, a method that can be used to gain knowledge by participants on a particular topic. Oxford debates as a lecture of innovative type are characterized by high efficiency of mastering the material, as a characteristic feature of modern lectures should be the activity basis, which means the interaction of teacher and student, their joint educational search. The Oxford debate, in accordance with the requirements of modern higher school didactics, provides a large amount of clearly systematized and concentrated, methodically well-developed modern scientific information. The experience of Western European countries is taken as an example, in particular the example of the United Kingdom British Parliament, which reflected the idea of the Oxford debate. The article lists the stages of preparation, implementation and sequence of innovative methods offered to future foreign philologists - students of Vinnytsia Pedagogical College, which develops their ability to critically evaluate the information received, acquaints with the latest scientific advances. The concept of this innovative methodology is highlighted and also the feasibility of its implementation in the educational process.
