Abstract

The article highlights the relevance of such a problem as developing health maintaining competence of specialists in preschool educational institutions and it addresses the issue in question as a basis for effective realization of the teachers’ potential in pedagogical activity. It describes the issue of maintaining teachers’ good professional and personal health as trends and challenges towards improving the quality of preschool education require constant professional growth, as well as social and professional mobility of the pedagogical staff. The article analyzes such a category as «health maintaining competence of a teacher» and reveals the structural components of the aforementioned category, namely: valuable and motivational, cognitive, operational and technological ones as well as the component of personal and professional qualities. It examines one of the main functions of the teacher, the one that is aimed at maintaining their own health and involves such aspects as maintaining good physical, social, mental and spiritual health (their own and the health of others involved); developing the habits of the healthy lifestyle and using these skills in practice, balancing work and rest mode in a proper way; avoiding or preventing professional stress and emotional burnout. The article underlines that one of the most important tasks of methodological work in preschool education institutions is the development of teachers' readiness to be healthy. This willingness should consist of: the need (I want) to be healthy; the ability (I can) to build healthy relationships with oneself and the environment and the determination (I will) to live by the laws of nature. The author puts forward a number of non-standard forms of methodological work, which force the pedagogical staff to pay their attention on the need of having a certain amount of means aiming to maintain and restore professional health.
