Theoretical aspects of the problem of civic education of students of pedagogical specialties

The article analyzes the theoretical aspects of the problem of civic education of students of pedagogical specialties. The issue of civic education of student youth today remains especially important in the very fi rst stages of higher education - in colleges. A number of topical issues related to the formation of student citizenship remain unsolved, which led to the choice of topic.
The purpose of the article is to reveal the peculiarities of the formation of civic consciousness of students of pedagogical specialties.
It was found that citizenship is a spiritual and moral value, worldview and technological characteristics of the individual, which determines its duty and responsibility to compatriots, the Motherland. And the essence of civic education includes the process of forming citizenship as an integrated personality trait, which gives a person the opportunity to feel morally, socially, politically and legally capable and protected.
The pedagogical conditions for the formation of the civic position of student youth in educational institutions of I-II levels of accreditation are revealed. Their pupils are at the age stage, which according to the results of various studies is recognized as sensitive to the awareness of civic values and understanding the priorities of civic culture. Thus there is a civic formation of the individual and his social identifi cation, and as a result of active self-affi rmation in society -awareness of cultural values and manifestations of active life position. Accordingly, the prospects of state formation in Ukraine depend on the activity of young people and their capacity. We note that under the infl uence of various factors, the processes of forming the civic position of the pupils of these educational institutions are still slowing down, and the real state of the problem we raised does not always give the expected results. The most important factors in the actualization of the initiated research include the insuffi cient level of its scientifi c and pedagogical substantiation. We explain this by the absence in the Soviet period of Ukraine’s development of such an interpretation of the problems of civic education of young people, which they acquired in modern science, education, theory and practice. Therefore, we focus on the study of theoretical aspects of civic education in educational institutions of I-II levels of accreditation.
