УДК 159.955:37 Wikididactics: Thematic Wikilesson – a way to new education

Abstract

The article analyzes the essence, aspects and features of a new type of studies – wikilessons. Researchers distinguish them from other forms of classroom studies by using online resources. It goes about using Wikipedia materials for educational purposes. Based on the analysis of scientific and methodological literature types of lessons supported by Wiki resources are identified, the definition of the concept of "wikilesson" is proposed. The authors offers a set of classes aimed at the development of students’ media literacy and socio-cultural competencies. It is noted that the most popular form of educational work based on Wikipedia is Wikitraining and Wikimarathons which help to master the skills of writing and editing articles in the Free Encyclopedia created in more than 300 languages. They are disseminated in various educational and library institutions. In some institutions such trainings take place in the form of a club or group work. Innovative teachers use Wikiresources successfully integrating them into the educational process in school curriculum classes. University professors successfully implement the educational opportunities of Wikipedia as well. Team work in the classroom environment unites students who show an increased interest in new sources of knowledge under the curriculum and aim at professional development both during training and after it. In groups of foreign students special attention is paid to the international nature of working with Wikiresources where students have the opportunity to develop the necessary language skills using modern information technologies. The authors emphasizes the educational reserves of Wikisources with the purpose of their further use. The main attention is paid to revealing the educational opportunities of Wikipedia when organizing work with Internet resources.
